STATEMENT
Rosalie Frankel is a mixed-media artist who works intuitively with upcycled fiber media to discover connections between the natural environment, contemporary and historical social issues, and the stories inherent in the art materials themselves. Through the processes of eco-printing, rusting, waxing, painting, collage, and stitching, she creates both representational and abstract pieces drawn from those stories and the poetry of nature. She views art as relational and multidimensional – the artist to their environment: the artist to materials; materials to the artist; and artwork to its audience.
Her many years of working as a professional art therapist has deepened her understanding of the inherent power of art as a means of expression, healing, beauty, and joy. She has both fostered and witnessed the multiple possibilities and deep humanity of artistic expression. She brings this intuitive sensibility and creativity into play in explorations across a broad range of media.
